Weight loss products have now been included on this web site. You may be wondering why, right? Well for one thing, overweight or obese people are much more prone to experience muscle strain, neck, joint or back pain as compared to those who are not overweight or obese.
An article on the site PowayPatch titled “Obesity Can Be A Pain In The Back” mentioned that according to “The Obesity Society, one-third of obese patients suffer from musculoskeletal conditions, specifically back pain.” And thus, there is no question that individuals with weight problems should look at weight loss as a way to minimize their risk of health conditions that are related to obesity, including lower back pain. The article includes an interview with Dr. Angela Hee regarding the relationship of being overweight and back pain. She is a chiropractor with over 20 years of experience. This is what she said:
“Being overweight can increase the stress and strain of the muscles and ligaments in the spine, especially in the lower back. The lower back curve (lordosis) can become distorted, causing the pelvis to tilt in an abnormally exaggerated manner. Poor posture, lack of spinal flexibility, and weak core muscles may lead to sprains and strains, nerve impingement, herniated discs, and degenerative arthritis.”

As Dr. Hee mentioned, being overweight may even lead to herniated discs. And thus, the extra weight one carries can cause undue pressure on the spine and discs resulting in further damage. Inflammation is another issue which overweight and obese individuals experience, having to struggle with longer periods of healing and enduring chronic pain.
