Inflammation, Pain & Dr. David Sinclair

Last week’s article showcasing Dr. David Sinclair and his research in epigenetics was a revelation.  He had some unconventional and radical ideas regarding longevity.  However, his idea of maintaining a healthy lifestyle makes sense.  In fact, he states that if you follow what he is doing, which was covered last week, it will fight aging.  That in turn, implies its anti-inflammatory benefits.  And it has been established that inflammation within our bodies causes pain.  The article from the site Garden State Pain & Orthopedics, titled How Inflammation Causes Pain, confirms that fact.  I was intrigued with Dr. Sinclair’s research and found another video where he discusses how to reduce inflammation.

Some of Dr. Sinclair’s ideas are radical, huh?  As he discussed on last week’s article, “doing these things” turn on the longevity genes, which are anti-inflammatory.  He even takes aspirin, which I stopped taking of fear of how it might eat up the stomach lining.  By the way, I was taking a daily dose of baby aspirin and did it without any side effects just to keep the arteries clean.  Who knows, I may just start it up again.  And please note, this is not professional or medical advice … I am just going over what Dr. Sinclair is currently doing.  He also takes resveratrol (powder form), and I believe he mixes it with a few spoonsful of yogurt.  According to him, the mixing of resveratrol and yogurt enhances it to be more easily absorbed by the body (i.e., more bioavailable).  And finally, he recommends fasting, as overeating accelerates the inflammatory process within the body, which accelerates aging.  Dr. Sinclair calls it “eat less often”, which he believes is the one thing that will have the greatest impact on our longevity.
